About Us
Our Story
Aloha mai kākou.
My name is Keanu Correa, and I’m the founder of Hoʻomalu Hawaiʻi.
I was born on Oʻahu and raised in Puna on Hawaiʻi Island, where native forests, volcanic landscapes, and the ocean shaped the way I see home. Those places continue to inspire everything we create.
Like many Native Hawaiians, my journey has also been one of reconnecting with my culture and gaining a deeper understanding of the history, traditions, and ecosystems that have sustained these islands for generations. Hoʻomalu Hawaiʻi grew from that experience.
Our name, Hoʻomalu, reflects the idea of protection, care, and stewardship. It represents a commitment to creating thoughtfully crafted products while encouraging a deeper appreciation for Hawaiʻi, its landscapes, its stories, and the responsibility we all share in caring for them.
Each candle, piece of jewelry, and article we create is inspired by the places that have shaped us. We hope our products offer more than something beautiful to bring home; we hope they inspire curiosity, meaningful conversations, and a lasting connection to Hawaiʻi beyond what is often seen on the surface.
We are still a small business, and we’re continuing to grow with intention. As we do, our goal is to expand the ways we can support environmental stewardship, share educational stories, and contribute to the protection of the places that inspire our work.
Mahalo nui for being here and for supporting a Native Hawaiian-owned small business. Your support allows us to continue creating with purpose, growing thoughtfully, and working toward a future where Hawaiʻi’s natural and cultural heritage can continue to thrive.

Our Mission
Our mission is to honor the places, stories, and ecosystems that shape Hawaiʻi by creating thoughtfully made goods that inspire connection, encourage understanding, and support the continued care and restoration of our islands.

Through our products, storytelling, and education, we hope to bring greater awareness to the challenges facing Hawaiʻi’s native ecosystems while contributing to the efforts that protect what remains for future generations.
Our Kuleana
At Ho'omalu Hawai'oi, we believe every product carries a responsibility to the land, our ancestors, and to future generations.
Born in the rainforests of Puna and inspired by the deep roots of our Native Hawaiian culture, we create with intention. Every candle poured and every design shared is an offering back to Hawai'i. Its a way to honor the resilience of our ‘aina, protect native species like sacred 'ohia lehua, and uplift stories too often overlooked.
That’s why, after covering the true cost of creating our products, we give back a portion of every sale to support local stewardship and restoration projects that protect native species like the sacred ‘ohia lehua.
More than a business, Ho'omalu Hawai'i. is part of a movement to remember who we are, malama what we love, and leave the world more pono that we found it.
Sustainable Development
-
Environmental Stewardship: We believe caring for Hawaiʻi’s ecosystems starts with awareness, responsibility, and action. As we continue to grow, our goal is to contribute more directly through environmental initiatives, conservation efforts, restoration projects, and partnerships that support the protection of native ecosystems. While we are still building the foundation of our small business, we are committed to growing in a way that allows us to create a greater positive impact over time.
-
Education: Through our blog and products, we share stories that encourage a deeper understanding of Hawaiʻi’s history, native ecosystems, and culture.* Thoughtful Growth We believe growth should never come at the expense of our values. As we grow, we remain committed to quality, authenticity, and the purpose that guides our work
-
Community: We value opportunities to work alongside local artists, makers, conservation organizations, and others who share a commitment to Hawaiʻi
-
Longevity: We create products with intention, encouraging people to choose items that carry meaning, tell a story, and are made to be appreciated for years to come.
